Overview

Aaron Bean is a Republican U.S. Representative for Florida's 4th congressional district, serving since 2023. He previously served in the Florida Senate (2012-2022) and Florida House (2000-2008), representing districts in North Florida including Nassau County, Clay County, and parts of Duval County.

Career

In the Florida Senate, Bean proposed legislation to reject federal Medicaid expansion funds and instead establish a state healthcare marketplace. He opposed granting in-state tuition to children of undocumented immigrants. In Congress, he was among 47 Republicans who voted in 2023 to direct President Biden to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria within 180 days, and he voted to support Israel following the 2023 Hamas attack.

Prior political experience

Bean was first elected to the U.S. House in 2022, winning the Republican primary with 68% of the vote and defeating Democratic nominee LaShonda Holloway in the general election with 60% of the vote. He previously won his 2012 Florida Senate race with 62% of the vote against Democrat Nancy Soderberg, having defeated state representative Mike Weinstein in the Republican primary with 64%.
