Overview

Brandon Gill is a Republican U.S. representative for Texas's 26th congressional district, serving since 2025. Born February 26, 1994, in New Mexico and raised in Texas, he is the youngest Republican member of Congress. Gill graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in history and economics, worked as an investment banker, and founded the online newspaper D.C. Enquirer before entering politics. He was endorsed by President Trump and Senator Ted Cruz in his 2024 campaign and won the general election with over 60% of the vote.

Career

Since taking office in January 2025, Gill has introduced numerous bills focused on immigration enforcement, including the REMAIN in Mexico Act, the Student Visa Integrity Act, and the Expedited Removal of Criminal Aliens Act. In September 2025, his DC Juvenile Sentencing Reform Act passed the House 225–203, lowering the age for trying certain juvenile offenders as adults in Washington, D.C. Gill has also filed multiple impeachment resolutions against U.S. District Judge James E. Boasberg. He is a member of the Freedom Caucus.

Prior political experience

Gill won the 2024 Republican primary for Texas's 26th congressional district with over 50% of the vote in a field of ten candidates, avoiding a runoff. He won the general election against Democratic nominee Ernest Lineberger III and Libertarian candidate Phil Gray with over 60% of the vote. He was endorsed by President Donald Trump and Texas Senator Ted Cruz during his campaign.
