Biography

Overview

Elijah Crane is a Republican U.S. representative from Arizona's 2nd congressional district since 2023. A former Navy SEAL who served from 2001 to 2014, Crane is a businessman who co-founded Bottle Breacher, a patriotic-themed bottle opener company that received investment on Shark Tank before he sold it in 2022. He was first elected to Congress in 2022 after defeating Democratic incumbent Tom O'Halleran with 54% of the vote, and was re-elected in 2024.

Career

Crane's legislative efforts have centered on border security, veterans' affairs, and western land issues. Notable actions include voting against the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023, being among the first Republicans to oppose Kevin McCarthy's speakership, and later supporting his removal. He has taken a more restrained stance on foreign military involvement, questioning U.S. spending abroad while remaining supportive of the Trump administration. He has also introduced articles of impeachment against a federal judge he accused of judicial overreach in 2025.

Prior political experience

Crane was first elected to Congress in 2022, defeating Democratic incumbent Tom O'Halleran by a margin of 54% to 46% in a district that had been redrawn to be significantly more Republican. He was re-elected in 2024 against Jonathan Nez, the former Navajo Nation president.
