Biography

Overview

Eric Burlison is a Republican U.S. Representative from Missouri's 7th congressional district, serving since 2023. Born October 2, 1976, he previously served in the Missouri House (2009-2016) and Missouri Senate (2018-2022). He holds degrees in philosophy and business administration from Southwest Missouri State University and worked as a software engineer and business analyst before his election to Congress. He is a member of the Freedom Caucus.

Career

In the Missouri House, Burlison helped Missouri join the Health Care Compact (2011) and passed a bill improving educational services access for children with dyslexia (2014). He sponsored legislation eliminating conceal and carry requirements for firearms in Missouri (2016). In Congress, he has been active on government efficiency issues as a member of the new House Department of Government Efficiency Committee and has introduced legislation on diverse topics from health savings accounts to UFO investigation.

Prior political experience

In 2022, Burlison won Missouri's 7th congressional district race with 70.9% of the vote against Democratic nominee Kristen Radaker-Sheafer, who received 26.9%. His term began January 3, 2023. He was reelected for a second term in 2024.
