Overview

Frank Mrvan is a Democratic U.S. representative for Indiana's 1st congressional district, serving since 2021. He previously worked as a township trustee for North Township, Indiana (2005–2021), and has a background in mortgage brokerage and pharmaceutical sales. Mrvan is known for supporting labor issues and has co-chaired the Congressional Steel Caucus.

Career

Since taking office in 2021, Mrvan voted to impeach Donald Trump in the second impeachment trial and supported the American Rescue Plan Act and the Protecting the Right to Organize Act (which he co-sponsored). He has cosponsored the Women's Health Protection Act and consistently votes against bills that would restrict labor organizing, healthcare access, or environmental protections.

Prior political experience

Mrvan was first elected to Congress in 2020 with 57% of the vote against Republican Mark Leyva, after winning the Democratic primary with 33% in a 14-candidate field. He was endorsed by incumbent Pete Visclosky and the United Steelworkers. He was re-elected in 2022 with 53% against Jennifer-Ruth Green and again in 2024 with 53% against Randy Niemeyer, showing consistent support in his district.
