Biography
Overview
Gabe Evans is a Republican U.S. Representative from Colorado's 8th congressional district, serving since 2025. He is a former U.S. Army captain with the Colorado National Guard and former Arvada Police Department lieutenant with law enforcement and military background. Evans is a member of the moderate Republican Governance Group and serves on the House Energy and Commerce and Homeland Security committees.
Career
In his first year in Congress, Evans has focused on law enforcement and national security issues. Two of his bills advanced through House committees in April 2025: the Law Enforcement Support and Counter Transnational Repression Accountability Act to address foreign government repression of diaspora communities, and the Expediting Federal Broadband Deployment Reviews Act to streamline broadband permitting for rural and underserved areas. He also voted in favor of the Laken Riley Act.
Prior political experience
Evans was first elected to Congress in November 2024, defeating incumbent Democratic Representative Yadira Caraveo. He previously served in the Colorado House of Representatives, where he received 63.31% of votes cast in the 2022 election. In the 2024 Republican primary for his congressional seat, he defeated former Colorado State Representative Janak Joshi.
