Biography

Overview

Jeff Hurd is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Colorado's 3rd congressional district. First elected in 2024, he is a lawyer from Grand Junction who previously worked in law firms locally and in New York. He is a member of the moderate Republican Governance Group.

Career

Since taking office in 2025, Hurd has focused on water infrastructure and tribal issues. His signature accomplishment to date is the enactment of HR 2316 (Wetlands Conservation and Access Improvement Act of 2025). He has also championed legislation on Indian drinking water programs and geothermal energy development. In 2025, Hurd joined a group of moderate Republicans urging Republican leadership to preserve Medicaid coverage and was one of six Republicans voting to rescind Trump tariffs on Canada.

Prior political experience

Hurd was first elected to Congress in 2024. He won the Republican primary for Colorado's 3rd district by defeating state Representative Ron Hanks, then won the general election against Aspen City Councilman Adam Frisch. He is running for reelection in 2026.
