Biography
Overview
John Joyce is a Republican U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 13th congressional district, serving since 2019. A dermatologist by profession, he succeeded Bill Shuster in a heavily Republican district that includes the cities of Altoona and Chambersburg. Joyce was born in Altoona in 1957, graduated from Penn State University and Temple University School of Medicine, and completed his medical residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Career
Joyce has sponsored 19 bills focusing on healthcare access, broadband infrastructure, and regulatory reform, though most remain in committee. He is a member of specialized caucuses including the GOP Doctors Caucus, Dairy Caucus, and Army Caucus, reflecting constituent interests. As chair of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, he has responsibility for congressional oversight activities.
