Biography

Overview

Juan Ciscomani is a Republican U.S. Representative from Arizona's 6th congressional district, serving since 2023. Born in Hermosillo, Mexico and raised in Tucson, he was the first in his family to graduate from college. He served as a senior advisor to Governor Doug Ducey and vice chair of the Arizona-Mexico Commission before his election to Congress. Ciscomani delivered the Republican response to President Biden's 2023 State of the Union Address in Spanish.

Career

Since 2023, Ciscomani has focused on veteran support, border security, and Arizona development. He co-sponsored the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, which passed the House in February 2025 and enhanced penalties for fleeing law enforcement near the border. He has sponsored numerous bills on veteran employment, housing access, and healthcare. He declined to run for U.S. Senate in 2024, choosing instead to focus on House work and pursue re-election.

Prior political experience

Ciscomani was first elected to Congress in 2022, narrowly defeating Democratic state Senator Kirsten Engel in Arizona's 6th district. He was re-elected in 2024 in a rematch against Engel that was widely expected to be one of the most competitive races in the country. He declined speculation about running for U.S. Senate in 2024 and for Arizona governor in 2026, choosing instead to run for his House seat again.
