Biography
Overview
Nikki Budzinski is a Democrat representing Illinois's 13th congressional district since 2023. She is a union organizer and political operative with deep experience in labor advocacy. Before her election to Congress, Budzinski served as chief of staff to the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the Biden administration. She is a member of the moderate New Democrat Coalition.
Career
Since her election in 2022, Budzinski has sponsored 20 bills focusing on veterans' services, agricultural support, and rural health. Her signature legislative efforts include the VA Mental Health Outreach and Engagement Act (which was reported from committee), the Veteran DATA Act, and the Grocery, Farm, and Food Worker Stabilization Grant Program Act.
