Overview
Randy Feenstra is a Republican U.S. Representative from Iowa's 4th congressional district, serving since 2021. He is retiring from the House to run for Governor of Iowa in 2026. Before Congress, Feenstra served in the Iowa State Senate from 2009 to 2021 and was Sioux County Treasurer from 2006 to 2008.
Career
In Congress, Feenstra has supported Israel following the 2023 Hamas attack and voted to repeal the 2002 Iraq War authorization in 2021. He has sponsored numerous bills focused on agriculture, rural broadband infrastructure, and student loan support, though most remain in committee. He also sponsored measures related to the Second Amendment and healthcare. His primary achievement in the House has been establishing himself in key agricultural committees.
Prior political experience
Feenstra was first elected to Congress in 2020 by defeating incumbent Steve King in the Republican primary with 45.7% of the vote, then defeating Democrat J.D. Scholten in the general election by almost 25 points. He was reelected in 2022 by a wide margin over Democrat Ryan Melton and Liberty candidate Bryan Holder. In 2024, he defeated Kevin Virgil in the Republican primary and defeated Democrat Ryan Melton again in the general election to win a third House term.
