Biography
Overview
Ryan Mackenzie is a Republican U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district, serving since 2025. Born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, he previously served in the state House of Representatives from 2012 to 2024. He holds a bachelor's degree in finance and international business from New York University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He defeated Democrat Susan Wild in the 2024 election.
Career
In the Pennsylvania House, Mackenzie served as Republican chair of the Labor and Industry Committee and held leadership positions including deputy majority whip and majority chair of the House Government Oversight Committee. He was among 60-plus House Republicans who urged Congress to reject Pennsylvania's 2020 electoral votes. His legislative priorities include job creation, taxpayer protection, education strengthening, and government reform. Since entering Congress in 2025, his sponsored bills focus on veteran support, workforce development, tax credits for families, and immigration enforcement.
Prior political experience
Mackenzie announced candidacy for Pennsylvania's 15th congressional district in 2017 but withdrew in March 2018 after the state Supreme Court redrew district lines. In 2021, he briefly ran for the Republican nomination in Pennsylvania's 7th district but withdrew to focus on his state House reelection. He won his state House race in 2022. In 2024, Mackenzie won the Republican primary for Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district on April 23, defeating Kevin Dellicker and Maria Montero, then defeated incumbent Democrat Susan Wild in the general election. He was sworn into the 119th Congress on January 3, 2025.
