Overview
Scott Perry is a Republican U.S. Representative from Pennsylvania's 10th congressional district, serving since 2013. He is a retired Army National Guard brigadier general who previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Perry is known for his conservative voting record and his role as former chair of the House Freedom Caucus (2022-2024). His district is centered around Harrisburg, York, and surrounding areas in Dauphin, Cumberland, and York counties.
Career
Perry's major legislative focus has been on energy policy and transportation infrastructure. His election margins have strengthened over time, winning with 60% in 2012 and reaching 54% in 2022. He was elected chair of the House Freedom Caucus in November 2021, serving through January 2024. Perry has been a significant participant in Republican foreign policy debates, particularly regarding Taiwan, Ukraine aid, and Middle East policy.
