Overview
Sheri Biggs is a Republican representing South Carolina's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. First elected in 2024, she is a nurse practitioner and former lieutenant colonel in the Mississippi Air National Guard. A member of the Freedom Caucus, she was sworn in on January 3, 2025.
Career
As a freshman representative sworn in January 2025, Rep. Biggs has focused on introducing legislation addressing border security, counterterrorism, veterans' benefits, women's workplace protections, and gun rights. Her bills include the No Mercy for Terrorists Act, the Mobilizing Against Sanctuary Cities Act, and the Protecting Motherhood Act. She also advanced a runoff election victory in 2024 to win her seat.
Prior political experience
Sheri Biggs was first elected to Congress in 2024. She declared her candidacy in January 2024, one day after incumbent Jeff Duncan announced he would not seek reelection. Biggs advanced to a runoff election against Mark Burns, which she won. She then won the general election and was sworn into the 119th Congress on January 3, 2025.
