Biography
Overview
Stephanie Bice is a Republican U.S. Representative from Oklahoma's 5th congressional district, serving since 2021. She is the first Iranian-American elected to Congress. Before her House service, Bice represented Oklahoma's 22nd Senate district from 2014 to 2020. A graduate of Oklahoma State University, she worked in financial oversight and digital marketing before entering politics.
Career
In the Oklahoma Senate, Bice sponsored legislation providing relief for felony sentences now classified as misdemeanors and measures regulating antipsychotic drug use in nursing homes. She backed State Question 792, which expanded alcohol sales in Oklahoma grocery stores. In Congress, she has focused on immigration enforcement, workforce development, and biotechnology research. In 2025, she secured commitments for increased research funding to the Midwest and reaffirmed support for federal research institutions like the NIH.
Prior political experience
Bice was first elected to the Oklahoma Senate in 2014 unopposed. She was reelected in 2018 with 73% in the primary and 68% in the general election. In the 2020 U.S. House race, she won the Republican primary runoff against Terry Neese, then defeated Democrat Kendra Horn with 52.1% of the vote. In 2022, she defeated primary challenger Subrina Banks and won the general election with 70.6% against Democrat Joshua Harris-Till. In 2024, she faced no primary opposition and defeated Democrat Madison Horn with 70.3%. She faces a Democratic nominee in the 2026 general election.
