Biography
Overview
Susie Lee is a Democratic U.S. Representative from Nevada's 3rd congressional district, serving since 2019. She represents southern Las Vegas and much of unincorporated Clark County. Before entering Congress, Lee worked as a founding director of Las Vegas's Inner-City Games (now After-School All-Stars) and served as board chair of Communities in Schools of Nevada, a dropout prevention organization.
Career
Lee has worked on several bipartisan initiatives including the LWCF Permanent Funding Act for conservation, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Seniors Securing Access to Vital and Essential Prescription Drugs Act. She helped secure $40 million in federal funding for Nevada's water infrastructure in 2023. Early in her tenure, she forewent her paycheck during the 2019 government shutdown and worked with Nevada's delegation to prevent the Yucca Mountain nuclear waste facility from becoming operational.
Prior political experience
Lee was first elected to Congress in 2018, winning Nevada's 3rd district primary with 66.9% of the vote and defeating Republican Danny Tarkanian with 52% in the general election. She ran unsuccessfully for the 4th district in 2016, placing third in the primary. In subsequent reelections: 2020 (primary 82.8%, general 48.8% vs. Dan Rodimer), 2022 (52% vs. April Becker), and 2024 (51% vs. Drew Johnson). She has consistently won competitive races against Republican opponents.
