Biography
Overview
Tracey Mann is a Republican U.S. Representative from Kansas's 1st congressional district, serving since 2021. Born December 17, 1976, Mann is a businessman and former lieutenant governor of Kansas (2018–2019). He represents "the Big First," the seventh-largest congressional district in the nation covering 63 counties in central and western Kansas. Mann worked as a commercial real estate broker and continues to own his family farm in Quinter.
Career
Mann led efforts to delist the lesser prairie chicken from the Endangered Species Act, which the Trump administration moved to implement in 2025 after Biden vetoed earlier legislation. He supports strengthening Medicaid protections for vulnerable Kansans. He has sponsored numerous bills focused on rural health access, agricultural modernization, and small business support, though these bills remain in committee. He also serves in the House Hunger Caucus and FFA Caucus, reflecting his focus on agricultural and rural constituencies.
Prior political experience
Mann ran unsuccessfully for Kansas's 1st district in 2010, losing to Tim Huelskamp in the Republican primary. In 2020, after incumbent Roger Marshall gave up the seat to run for U.S. Senate, Mann defeated Air Force veteran Bill Clifford in the Republican primary and Democrat Kali Barnett in the general election with 71% of the vote.
